Preguntas frecuentes

Do US citizens need a Canada eTA?+
No. US citizens do not need an eTA to travel to Canada. US citizens simply need a valid US passport. This is one of the most frequently confused points — US citizens are completely exempt from the eTA requirement.
Does the Canada eTA replace a visa?+
No. The eTA is for nationalities that are visa-exempt for Canada. If your nationality currently requires a full Canadian visa (Temporary Resident Visa), you must apply for the TRV at a Canadian embassy — not an eTA.
What happens when the Canada eTA expires?+
When your eTA expires (after 5 years or when your passport expires), simply apply for a new one. There is no penalty for eTA expiry — you cannot travel to Canada without a valid one, so plan ahead and renew before your next trip.
